Full-timeRK&K is hiring a Traffic Engineer to join our highly successful transportation group in either our Virginia Beach, VA or Richmond, VA offices. As a Traffic Engineer with RK&K you will support public and private agencies on design and engineering programs throughout our portfolio. This role will support our efforts in the area of Temporary Traffic Control and Maintenance of Traffic for construction.
Essential Functions:
- Perform a variety of tasks, including traffic engineering design plans and preliminary engineering design
- Support projects for all modes of travel including highway, bus, rail, bicycle and pedestrian in urban, suburban and rural environments
- Complete studies and develop high quality traffic reports with limited direction and be able to clearly, professionally present that information to our clients on site and virtually
- Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS)
- Prepare technical reports and presentations
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Zero (0) to Six (6) years of progressive experience in traffic engineering, if zero (0) years experience internship experience preferred
- Exceptional writing, verbal communication and presentation skills including public speaking
- Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and AASHTO guidelines
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of North Carolina
