Full-timeDragados USA is seeking a Project Controller to support the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel expansion project. This role will focus primarily in performing all required accounting functions of the project in a timely and accurate manner.
Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains operation of all accounting functions and procedures keeping updated on all requirements
- Supervises a team of accountant, payroll, and office specialists to ensure the department accomplishes accounting objectives; Mentoring and professional development of the accounting team
- Provides computer input and performs analytical review of reports generated
- Utilizes computer software systems for the preparation of reports, spreadsheets and other accounting analysis that may be required by management
- Accurately reviews weekly field and office payrolls
- Maintains all project's operating accounts including deposits, disbursements and balancing
- Supports local as well as in certain regional teams, including team members located internationally
- Monitors daily cash balances in operating bank accounts to cover obligations
- Prepares monthly cash projection reports
- On a quarterly basis completes federal and state payroll tax returns and necessary deposits to bank
- Processes and reviews all accounts payable and subcontractors payments
- Accrues, prepares and remits appropriate sales taxes as necessary
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of master data including resource information; project, activity, and resource codes; enterprise project structure; security profiles; licensing information; etc
- Participates in the development of the work breakdown structure, interfacing with Procurement, Engineering, and Finance Departments
- Prepares monthly aged trial balances, job cost summary schedules, supporting schedules for month-end close
- Performs year- end audit and 6-month review with company CPA firm
- Interfaces with the Project Manager and Executives to accurately charge and code invoices to proper Job Cost and General Ledger
- Reviews construction contracts for obligations related to accounting and insurance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related degree required
- Ten (10) years of progressive finance and accounting experience
- Construction, Accounting, Payroll, Union Payroll experience is necessary
- Broad knowledge of GAAP and related internal control structures for financial accounting and reporting systems and processes
- Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks/projects
- Ability to work well as an integral part of a large project team
- Knowledge and experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytic, organizational and interpersonal skills
