Direct, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate accounting and financial controls and programs affecting life care activities, including general accounting, patient business services, financial and statistical recording. Analyze, interpret and communicate financial information both internally and externally.

  • Plan, direct and manage activities of the accounting department to ensure prompt and accurate processing and communicating of all financial activities including collecting, disbursing, reporting and recording of all monies.
  • Review and evaluate general accounting systems for recording assets, liabilities, payroll, payables and receivables. Develop procedures and flow of work for the accounting team in coordination with other departments ensuring proper internal controls and collaboration.
  • Administer and coordinate accurate and timely third party billing. Monitor the prompt collection of due and overdue accounts with residents, patients and other responsible parties. Maintain and control changes to the chart of accounts, budget and financial report writer to provide accurate and timely financial reports for management
  • Prepare, coordinate and implement plan and scheduling of the corporate budget
  • Direct the timely and accurate preparation of data for audit, prepare cost reports, tax returns, tax memoranda to residents and allocations made for regulatory agencies and third party payers.
  • Represent the community in matters relating to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Assist in review of financial statements of all residents and applicants in order to project their ability or inability to pay all fees and expenses during their life expectancy.
  • Maintain detailed actuarial system. Analyze the actuarial stability of the Fellowship program.
  • Serve as liaison with external auditors to coordinate the preparation of annual financial information.
  • Develop and supervise the preparation and execute on of an internal audit program to ensure compliance with established corporation, auditing and accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage all accounting systems, sub-systems, computer applications and data storage systems to ensure files and other accounting data are properly maintained.
  • Direct personnel related actions including, hiring, coaching, developing, performance reviews, merit recommendation, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
  • Prepare financial reports for and attend meetings of the Executive/ Finance Committee/Board of Trustees.
  • Assist CFO in the investing and monitoring of all cash including escrow account. Reconcile investment and escrow accounts.
  • Review the preparation of payroll tax returns, W-2's and other governmental reports as required.
  • Monitor, prepare, manage and submit, in a timely fashion, all external filing requirements
  • Communicate concerns or potential control compliance or staff concerns to CFO or CEO quickly.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting or finance.
  • CPA (current and in good standing) or MBA
  • Three years of financial management experience, preferably in the health care field
  • Two years’ experience in public accounting.
  • Computer experience desirable.

  • Sedentary work: must be able to perform computer work for six to eight hours per day, either standing or sitting.
  • Must be able to file and retrieve documents from filing cabinets and storage area, and lift/carry and maneuver and

maneuver boxes/files weighing up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to work hours that extend beyond normal business hours depending on operational needs.
