East Coast Leisure is a family owned and operated business with 4 locations in the Hampton Roads area. East Coast Leisure has for over 30 years made outdoor living dreams come true by providing all retail and service needs for pools, hot tubs and patio furniture from implementation to accessorizing to maintenance. This position will assist East Coast Leisure’s Accounting department with numerous daily accounting activities to assure general ledger and sub-ledgers are accurate and promptly processed; proper filing and maintenance of documentation; spreadsheet updates; daily deposit preparation and bank reconciliation; and assist bookkeeper with various ad hoc projects and reporting. This position is a part-time offering approximately 25 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Bookkeeper in maintaining all financial transactions of business
  • General ledger journal entries, credit card and bank reconciliations
  • Process, prepare and record vendor bills
  • Process daily deposits, issue checks and update daily bank reports
  • Assist with payroll preparation by updating commission and bonus files, updating personnel files and time keeping
  • Filing, data entry, answering phones and processing mail
  • Handling communication with customers and vendors
  • Updating and maintaining multiple spreadsheets used in financial analysis
  • Assist with sales and use tax returns
  • Assisting the Bookkeeper with audits, fact checking and resolving discrepancies
  • Work on various projects as needed


  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in related field with 3 to 4 years experience
  • Strong knowledge of General Accounting Principles
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and advance abilities with Microsoft Office applications
  • Preference given to experience with a third-party payroll processor such as Paychex
  • Preference given to experience with a point of sale system such as RB Controls
  • Able to work on a Windows 10 computer operating system
  • Strong typing skills
  • Commitment to working efficiently and accurately with strong attention to detail
  • Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial and personnel information
  • Ability to multi-task and remain professional and positive
  • Exceptional time management and verbal and written communication skills
  • Successful candidate will undergo a background check

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Physical Setting:

  • Office


  • Monday to Friday
